13th July - A Walk through the History of Jesmond Vale and Armstrong Park.
Please meet at the junction of
Warwick Street and Newington Road. This walk will involve some paths which
are steep and slippery.
The first reference to Jesmond Vale is a court case regarding the ownership
of watermills in the area in 1272. This was once a thriving village with
missions, farms, shops, mills and residential housing, now little remains.
We'll look at what there is, and then walk through to Armstrong Park.
